Annie in Austin
Welcome! As "Annie in Austin" I blog about gardening in Austin, TX with occasional looks back at our former gardens in Illinois. My husband Philo & I also make videos - some use garden images as background for my original songs, some capture Austin events & sometimes we share videos of birds in our garden. Come talk about gardens, movies, music, genealogy and Austin at the Transplantable Rose and listen to my original songs on YouTube. For an overview read Three Gardens, Twenty Years. She Came, We Met, She Conquered

Kathy Purdy from Cold Climate Gardening came to Austin and met local garden bloggers today. She and her friend Cynthia toured our gardens and we had lunch together. It was darned hot... but it was wonderful! Pam has photos.

  1. Oh, what fabulous photos! Isn't it fun to meet fellow bloggers?

You know, if you look at that photo very carefully you can see all your green thumbs. Heh

    Cheers,
    Josie

  2. A lot of fun was had by all, that much is pretty obvious. ;-) It is rather special to meet someone for real that before you only knew online. It was nice to see all your smiling, happy faces.

    Have a great weekend!

  3. It was fun and hot, Annie. I love putting faces to blogs. Must admit I'm very thankful Shady Grove has fans outside. ;-)

  4. You could be right about the thumbs, Josie - these were all real gardeners! I think you've enjoyed your close encounters with other bloggers, too!

YolandaElizabet, we couldn't stop smiling and laughing the whole time!

Dawn, it was a big step to go out with no big hat, but what the heck... we are who we are.

The Divas wished we had that big fan when we were doing our project yesterday!

  5. Annie, do you remember you were going to give me the recipe for those bar cookies you served Cynthia and me? They were named after your mother, right? I have decided you owe it to garden bloggers everywhere to post that recipe on your blog.

Cynthia and I had a wonderful time. Thank you so much for your hospitality.

  6. Oh dear, Kathy - that's a recipe I've never given to a single other person!! You were going to be a test case, giving me feedback to see how it worked in someone else's kitchen with their ingredients ;-) You'll still get it, but I've spent nearly 20 years perfecting this recipe and it's not up for grabs yet!

Are you home now?? We're all eagerly awaiting your report on the symposium.

  7. Annie,
It looks like you guys had so much fun.
Now I don't want to spread any rumors or anything
but in the first photos you all look so prim and proper and in the second photo, under the umbrellas, you guys look tanked.
It looks like you were drinking ice tea. Were they Long Island ice teas?

  8. Chigiy, I can't speak for anyone else, but it took just one Dr Pepper to make me look like that!

Have you checked out Dawn's photo at the Shady Grove? It's a good one, too.

  9. Annie--the citizens of Purdyville are up to the task of testing your bar cookies. I should have realized some treasures are difficult to share . . . There's probably a recipe contest out there that you could win grand prize with those cookies, so it's probably smart to keep the recipe under wraps.

  10. It looks as if everyone was having a grand time ... Chigiy's comment made me laugh because I was thinking the same thing!

A comment from you is like chocolate - maybe I could live without it, but life is more fun with it. I'll try to answer. If someone else's comment piques your interest, please feel free to talk among yourselves.
